# Elevation

We use elevation to make certain elements stand off the page.

It's useful for highlighting key areas and actions on a screen, and depicted by a soft shadow at various distances.

There are 5 shadow distances to choose from each offering a different elevation from the page. These values start at 1px up to a maximum of 16px.
